I am a Postdoctoral Research Scholar at North Carolina State University with Dr. Lincoln Larson in Parks, Recreation & Tourism Management. I am a social scientist who uses participatory model building to help solve complex conservation problems. In addition to system dynamics and applied systems thinking, I have expertise in community-led conservation, natural resource governance, conservation finance and program design and management. Read more about the System Dynamics approach here.
I have a Ph.D. from North Carolina State University in Fisheries, Wildlife and Conservation Biology and a Master's of Environmental Management from Duke University. Prior to pursuing my doctorate, I spent over 10 years with World Wildlife Fund (WWF). I began as the Social Geographer for the Community-Centered Conservation and Development Program in Zambia. I then transitioned to Program Officer for the WWF-US's Coastal East Africa program. Finally, I became a Senior Program Officer for the US Northern Great Plains and Community Conservation programs.
